Common questions growing businesses ask us.
What does a management consultant do for a growing business?
A management consultant helps leadership identify what is preventing the organization from performing consistently and then builds practical systems to address those constraints.
At Barrier Point, that can include clarifying roles, developing managers, establishing scorecards, creating meeting rhythms, defining decision rights, improving communication, setting 90-day priorities and creating accountability around execution.
How can an operations consultant help a business scale?
An operations consultant helps a business turn informal ways of working into processes that are repeatable, measurable and easier to manage.
This often includes mapping workflows, identifying bottlenecks, eliminating unnecessary steps, improving handoffs between departments, documenting critical processes and determining which activities should be automated.
When does a business need outside operational help?
Outside operational help becomes valuable when growth is increasing complexity faster than the company's management systems can handle it.
Common warning signs include the owner becoming the escalation point for most decisions, inconsistent execution between employees, unclear accountability, recurring problems, excessive meetings, poor reporting, disconnected technology and important processes living primarily in employees' heads.
How do you get an owner out of the day-to-day business?
Owners get out of daily firefighting when the organization has clear ownership, measurable expectations, documented processes and managers who have both the authority and information necessary to make decisions.
Simply delegating more tasks rarely solves the problem. The operating system underneath the delegation has to improve.
What is the difference between process improvement and automation?
Process improvement determines how work should happen. Automation uses technology to make parts of that process faster, more consistent or less dependent on manual effort.
Barrier Point generally recommends fixing the process first. Automating a broken process usually allows the business to make the same mistakes faster.
Can AI help improve business operations?
Yes. AI can improve productivity when it is applied to a clearly defined business problem instead of being adopted simply because the technology is available.
Practical applications can include call analysis, quality assurance, summarization, workflow assistance, employee coaching, knowledge retrieval, customer communication and operational reporting.
How does Barrier Point use concepts associated with EOS and Traction?
Barrier Point believes strongly in many of the operating disciplines popularized by EOS and Traction: clear accountability, scorecards, Rocks, issue solving, documented processes and a consistent meeting rhythm.
Our work, however, is broader than implementing a single methodology. We combine proven operating-system principles with practical management, technology, automation, sales, customer experience and implementation experience to build a system appropriate for the specific business.
Priorities
Translate strategy into a manageable number of 90-day outcomes.
Scorecards

Why is Barrier Point different from a traditional consulting firm?
Barrier Point was founded by Zach Locker, an operator and entrepreneur whose experience spans executive sales leadership, operations, entrepreneurship, hospitality, customer experience and technology implementation.
At XPEL, Zach progressed from field sales leadership to leading the U.S. sales organization, managing a team responsible for a business portfolio that grew from approximately $145 million to $180 million in annual revenue.
He later moved to the owner's side of the table, building businesses and dealing firsthand with hiring, sales, cash flow, customer experience, systems, marketing and the constant tradeoffs required to run a growing company.
The result is a consulting approach that can move between strategy and execution instead of stopping at recommendations.
Does Barrier Point Consulting work with businesses outside Georgia?
Yes. Barrier Point Consulting is based in Canton, Georgia, in the Atlanta metropolitan area, and works with businesses nationwide.
Engagements may include on-site work, remote consulting or a combination of both depending on the operational challenge and level of implementation support required.
What type of company is a good fit for Barrier Point?
Barrier Point is generally a strong fit for established small and mid-sized businesses that have achieved meaningful growth but are beginning to feel the operational consequences of that growth.
The company may already have managers, employees, CRM systems and documented processes—but leadership knows the pieces are not working together as effectively as they should.
We are particularly useful when the challenge crosses traditional departmental boundaries and requires someone who can connect people, process, data, technology and execution.
More about working with Barrier Point Consulting.
Is Barrier Point Consulting an IT company?
Not in the traditional sense. Barrier Point is a management and operations consulting firm with strong technology and automation capabilities. Technology is used as a tool to improve the operation, rather than treated as the objective itself.
Does Barrier Point only provide recommendations?
No. Barrier Point can help diagnose the problem, design the solution and work alongside leadership during implementation. Our philosophy is "Architect + Builder."
Can Barrier Point help implement CRM or automation workflows?
Yes. Engagements can include CRM process design, workflow automation, reporting, integrations, AI-assisted processes and implementation support when those tools serve a defined operational objective.
Does Barrier Point work with leadership teams or directly with owners?
Both. Many engagements begin with ownership and then expand into management teams, department leaders and front-line employees as processes, roles and operating rhythms are implemented.
What is the goal of a Barrier Point engagement?
The goal is a stronger business that is less dependent on the consultant—and less dependent on the owner for routine execution. The systems ultimately need to belong to the client's leadership team.
